Tessa Miller DDS
Dr. Tessa Miller initially joined Bay Park Dental Group in 2011 as an undergraduate pre-dental student working as a dental assistant under the mentorship of Dr. Kenny. After completing her dental school training, she rejoined the Bay Park Dental team and became the proud owner in September 2017.
Dr. Miller was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She moved to San Diego for her undergraduate studies at UC San Diego where she graduated in three years with Cum Laude Honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Biology and a Minor in Economics. During her time at UCSD, she was heavily involved in the UCSD Student-Run Free Dental Clinics, volunteering as a clinic manager weekly at the Pacific Beach Clinic. It was there that she met Dr. Kenny, who recognized her strong work ethic and offered her a job at his office as a dental assistant. She worked full time for Dr. Kenny for a year prior to starting dental school. Under his mentorship, she was able to get a headstart on her dental education, while also learning about private practice and quality patient care.
Dr. Miller returned to the Bay Area and obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UC San Francisco. During dental school, she was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Nation Dental Honor Society and presented with the Willard C. Fleming Award for Excellence in Patient Service as well as the Academy of General Dentistry Senior Student Dental Award. After graduating dental school, Dr. Miller pursued an additional year of training at Bronx Lebanon Hospital in New York where she completed her General Practice Residency.
After completing her residency, Dr. Miller returned to sunny San Diego and rejoined the team at Bay Park Dental Group. Dr. Miller believes in taking the time to get to know each and every patient and addressing all their questions and concerns so they feel completely comfortable with their care. She focuses on patient education, prevention, and conservative dental treatment. It is Dr. Miller’s ultimate goal to make every patient’s visit a positive experience.
Dr. Miller is committed to lifelong learning in order to provide the best care for her patients. She regularly attends continuing education courses and reads dental journals to stay updated on the latest advancements in dentistry and is a member of a Spear Education study club that meets on a monthly basis. She is a member of the San Diego County Dental Society, California Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry. She also is a strong believer in giving back to the community and volunteers her time providing dental care to the underserved at the UCSD Student-Run Free Dental Clinics.
Aside from helping patients maintain their beautiful smiles, you may find Dr. Miller enjoying the San Diego sunshine relaxing at the beach, riding her beach cruiser or rollerblading around Mission Bay, hiking, and brunching on the weekends. She also enjoys traveling and visiting her fiance in New York, who is completing his dental residency specializing in pediatrics. Dr. Miller is grateful to call San Diego home and have the opportunity to provide you with excellent dental care!
Dr. Alexis Louie
Dr. Alexis Louie joined the team at Bay Park Dental Group in 2012. Dr. Louie was born and raised in northern California but decided to explore the east coast for college and dental school. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tufts University and then attended the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. After graduating in 2007, she then completed a General Practice Residency at the VA hospital in Long Beach, where she further advanced her medical and dental training. Opportunity and adventure brought Dr. Louie to beautiful San Diego where she met her husband and now calls home.
As a strong believer in life long education, Dr. Louie is constantly attending study clubs and seminars on topics such as CAD/CAM technology and implant dentistry. Proper patient education is also a top priority for Dr. Louie. She always takes the time to discuss with patients their diagnosis as well as their treatment needs and options. Dr. Louie has made it her professional and personal goal to create a welcoming, relaxed dental environment where her patients feel comfortable, at ease, and in good hands. Whether it’s preventative, restorative, maintenance, or elective cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Louie strives to fulfill all of her patients’ needs while providing quality dentistry above all else.
In her free time, Dr. Louie loves swimming, running, hiking, skiing, yoga, and enjoys the challenge and excitement of triathlons, adventure races, and mud runs. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and son. Every day she appreciates living in a place that so many people travel to for vacation.
Dr. Sussi Yamaguchi
A Los Angeles native, Dr. Sussi completed her dental training at the University of Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco in 2006.
She received her Bachelor of Sciences degree from UC San Diego and was an avid pre-dental student volunteer for the UCSD Student-Run Free Dental Clinics (FDC). Currently, she is the Assistant Clinic Director of FDC, running and partaking in the daily operations of 5 free dental clinics. Dr. Sussi has been practicing dentistry for over 10 years and has been working with Dr. Kenny at the UCSD FDC. As a mentor to the pre-dental students, her hope is to inspire and instill in them the importance of giving back to the community and making an impact on the underserved population.
Fluent in Japanese and Spanish, Dr. Sussi is frequently combating dental disease both locally and globally. She has participated with the US Navy's humanitarian missions onboard the U.S Naval Hospital Mercy and Comfort Ships. Asides from helping people, Dr. Sussi enjoys spending quality time with her patients, often making lasting friendships with those around her.
Her experience working with the pre-dental students as an educator and mentor is evident. Her ability to teach dentistry combined with her enthusiastic energy always makes her patients excited to see her. After spending numerous hours practicing dentistry day in and day out on humanitarian missions, in the FDC clinics, and in private practice, her well-roundedness makes her an excellent attribute to the team. Dr. Sussi enjoys clinical dentistry- her favorite procedures consist of restorative and treating young families.
In her spare time, Dr. Sussi enjoys the outdoors from surfing, swimming, hiking, biking, playing tennis, and climbing. She loves to travel and learn about new cultures, meet people, eat, and play the guitar. She is someone who is extremely happy and is always looking for adventure.
